Position Summary:
Responsible for the supervision of initial hospital bill production to all payers for hospital services. Responsible for supervising the functions for governmental payers within Patient Accounting that provide for claims administration, billing, third party collections, inbound & outbound calls to or from patients and payers regarding their accounts, and functions that support those activities. Works in accordance to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for general and human resource management functions.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of seven (7) years patient accounting experience including three (3) years hospital supervisory experience or an Associate’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field with a minimum of three (3) years hospital patient accounting experience including a minimum of two (2) years hospital supervisory experience with accounts receivable, billing, and collections experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Working knowledge of claim forms/formats, general understanding of coding requirements (ICD9, CPT, and HCPCS), and a working knowledge of HIPAA and compliance regulations. Excellent professional communication skills both written and oral required. Knowledge and understanding of personal computers, software applications, and general office equipment and functionality required. Working knowledge of e-mail, Microsoft Word and Excel. Extensive knowledge and experience working with Ohio Medicaid and Medicaid HMO regulations required. Extensive experience with automated billing systems (including third party vendors) required. Knowledge of hospital revenue cycle with an emphasis on numerical and mathematical aptitude is required. Knowledge of operating automated systems that support the functions within Patient Accounting is required.
