Job Description

A Peer Recovery Coach is someone with lived experience in mental health and/or addictions.  The Recovery Coach provides recovery support, education, resource and guidance to individuals who are currently experiencing issues with addictions.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Position serves a member of an Addiction Services team serving adults with a history of addictions/substance abuse.
  • Provide resource, treatment & sober support information to individuals interested in recovery.
  • Provide recovery education and support to persons in recovery for substance use disorder.
  • Participate in outreach to community partners to help coordinate services with clients.
  • Assist clients in accessing community resources ie: housing; Medicaid applications, job placement, etc. as determined by client assessment.
  • Participating in staff and integrated treatment team meetings.
  • Assisting with implementation of individual client recovery plans.
  • May facilitate support / peer groups
  • Assisting in data collection.
Position Requirements:
  • Peer Recovery Specialist Certificate required.
  • Personal experience of substance use disorder and active in maintaining recovery for a minimum of 12 months.
  • Possesses understanding of therapeutic “boundaries” and able to process issues with program support network.
  • Willing and able to communicate with individuals in recovery, counselors, agency providers, court system, law enforcement, and others as determined by Supervisor.
  • Must possess a strong personal commitment to serving the recovery community.
  • Able to communicate with both the service population and community resource staff.
  • Must have own transportation. Local travel is required.
  • Ability to be flexible and collaborate on program with community partners.
  • Must pass a drug test.
