Job Description

Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services (GCB) has an immediate opening for a Job Developer/Employment Specialist!  We are hiring for a position at our Cincinnati/Hamilton County office.  Join our multidisciplinary treatment organization as a member of Employment and Recovery Services team.  This team focuses on helping individuals receiving behavioral health services to obtain and keep employment in the community.  Some of our Job Developers work with clients on our Traditional Case Management Teams and some work with Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Teams.  We offer a pay differential depending on your degree and which Case Management team you work with.

The ideal candidate will have a BA in Psychology, Social Work, or a related human services field and experience working with individuals to gain and keep employment.  We are looking for an individual who wants to join a team of caring professionals who are dedicated to helping persons with mental health barriers.

This position involves working with behavioral health consumers in all phases of the employment process including: vocational assessment, job readiness, job development and job search,  and employment support.  The job duties require knowledge of the population served, vocational rehabilitation, educational resource connection, service coordination, inter-agency collaboration, and local job market.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Find and place individuals with severe mental illness and other related barriers into competitive community employment and providing job coaching services to those clients placed in employment utilizing the evidenced based supported employment principles.

  • Develop employment goals based on individuals strengths and needs, and work as part of an integrated treatment model to include marketing Vocational Programs to business, community, and referral agents, networking with HR Departments, development of individualized placement plans, building relationships with community employers, and providing job coaching/employment site support services to clients.

  • Provide the following services: one-on-one career exploration, job development sessions, resume development and critiquing, individualized job searches, job/task analysis, orientation and job training, collaboration with other service providers and/or treatment team,  and other supports as required to assist clients to obtain and maintain employment.

 
Position Requirements:

  • BA in Social Work or Psychology or related human services field plus two years of related experience required.  Pay differential for Master's degree.

  • Demonstrated skills in the following areas:  self-direction/management, coordination of multiple tasks concurrently, interpersonal and communication skills, acquiring/evaluating information, crisis intervention and engaging/disengaging effectively with clients with severe mental illnesses and other barriers to employment.

  • Position requires frequent driving of own vehicle.  Valid driver’s license, vehicle and insurable driving record are required.
