Job Description

Join our mission to help individuals with mental illness and addictions to lead healthy and productive lives.  GCBHS has an immediate opening for a Peer Recovery Coach for our outpatient substance use programs in Hamilton County including our new day program at St. Anthony in Over the Rhine.  his is a full-time position responsible for providing engagement, recovery support services, education, resources and guidance to individuals who are currently experiencing issues with substance use disorder in Hamilton County.  Applicants must be willing to obtain Ohio Peer Support Certification post employment, lived experience of substance use disorder, and active in maintaining recovery for a minimum of twelve months.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Participates in face-to-face outreach efforts to individuals experiencing substance use disorder in Hamilton County.
  • Assists clients in accessing community resources i.e.: housing, treatment services, applicable benefits, job placement, etc. as determined by client assessment.
  • Provides resource, treatment & sober support information to individuals interested in recovery.
  • Provides recovery education and support to persons with substance use disorder.
  • Assists with implementation of individual client recovery plans.

Position Requirements:
  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Willingness to obtain Ohio Peer Certification post employment.
  • Lived experience of substance use disorder and active in maintaining recovery for a minimum of twelve months.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorder system, mental health system, and homeless community-based services strongly desired.  Individual must have demonstrated ability to respectfully motivate other consumers to act on their own behalf and to participate in activities.
  • Drug test required.
  • Position may require frequent driving of the employee’s personal vehicle. Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and insurable driving record may be required.
