Job/Internship Description

The marketing associate is responsible to provide exceptional customer service and allow the Marketing Consultant(s) to maximize and efficiently utilize their talents to the overall best interest of their clients and of Hurley & Associates. Marketing Associate will help with basic marketing tasks, assessment of client financials and data entry, and other tasks as assigned. Customer Service will include telephone conversations and email with clients on a regular basis. Good communication skills, attention to detail, professional image, integrity and confidentiality are expected.Hurley & Associates will have 1 Marketing Associate opportunityat our Glenwood, Minnesota office in the summer of 2022.

Information about Hurley:

We tailor individualized strategic marketing plans for each farmer; taking into account what makes their operation unique including their attitudes, financial obligations, and their future plans. Together we develop that marketing plan, and the consultant executes the plan on behalf of the farmer. We work hard to develop strong relationships with our clients focusing on producer education and open lines of communication.Hurley & Associates Mission is "To help our clients achieve economic stability while maintaining the dignity and value of the farm family."

Internship Objective:

Hurley & Associates objective for providing this internship program is to develop the skills within selected individuals to meet increasing needs for qualified support specialist working in the field of commodity hedging/risk management marketing.

The duration of the Summer Marketing AssociateInternship Program is 12 weeks in length. Hurley & Associates is supportive of receiving credit hours for the internship. Interns are paid a competitive weekly salary.

From this experience Interns should gain:

  • How relationships drive business and lay the foundation for long term growth.
  • How partnering with producers to infuse rational business thought into their operations promotes the stability of not only those operations but the local communities who are dependent upon agriculture.
  • Personal growth in the areas of independent critical thought, decision making and continuous improvement.
  • Further development of the intern' passion for agriculture and for the producers we serve.

Summary of Intern Responsibilities:

  • Make on-farm client and prospect visits with office consultants to better understand the value of relationships in agriculture.
  • Learn to analyze and enter financials into HA
  • Learn to pre-fill new client paperwork, for both cash and hedge accounts
  • Assist in entering the daily cash and futures and options tickets into HA
  • Provide customer service to clients and support to the consultant(s) you work with
  • Match fills, cancels and open orders
  • Create/send fill emails for consultants
  • Study CME and Series 3 licensing materials. Attain 80% or better on practice master test.
  • Participating in workshops.
  • Create and deliver presentations
