Job/Internship Description

Harford Mutual is seeking IT Interns to support the Information Technology Team during this coming summer. This position is for individuals currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing career opportunities in Information Technology (IT). The IT intern may take on one or more roles including application development, support, business requirement analysis and specification, and testing. The IT Intern will be assigned to an IT team and will have an opportunity to gain experience with professional software development processes and practices, and will have a hands-on role in the teams project and/or support activities.


Essential Duties

  • Complete development tasks in development languages to address defects and deploy fixes
  • Prepare test plans
  • Execute test cases to ensure solution is working as expected, capture results, identify and communicate issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members
  • Track and communicate relevant quality assurance metrics and information
  • Identify opportunities to automate QA processes and leverage tools and methodologies to improve testing practices
  • Offer suggestions to simplify and streamline applications
  • Contribute and complete development assignments associated to project work as needed
  • Review applications and provide perspective on ease-of-use
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by a supervisor.


Educational/Training Requirement:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university information technology related field of study such as computer science, information science, computer engineering, software engineering preferred


Experience:

  • None required


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of System Development lifecycle methodologies including analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of database structure, schema design, and application development concepts.
  • Strong collaborating skills, and an ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive
