Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services (GCB) has an immediate full-time opening for a Counselor/Therapist to provide day to day coordination of our Connections Program and provide mental health therapy to individuals, couples, and families. This position is part of our Child & Family Services division and serves a wide variety of clients in Cincinnati/Hamilton County.
GCB incorporates principles of trauma informed care in all areas of our services. Trauma informed care includes cultural sensitivity and emphasizes a safe and respectful environment for all clients and staff. Experience and/or training in these principles and in trauma treatment is valued in applicants.
Provides Integrated Counseling Services:
Provides expertise in utilizing therapeutic techniques appropriate for each client’s needs, to include Brief Solution Focused Therapy, and other best or evidence-based practices.
Provides individual, couple, family and group therapy as dictated by client needs.
Ability to create, implement and evaluate treatment plans according to individual client needs. Ability to re-assess client’s need for therapy throughout process.
Ability to assess for potential danger to client or others and how to effectively intervene.
Works collaboratively with team including other therapists, care managers, supervisor, clerical support workers, and psychiatrists to provide service to clients. Ongoing communication is necessary with all team members.
Makes intra and/or inter-agency referrals as appropriate.
Ability to maintain accurate, timely treatment records for each client. Excellent verbal skills are necessary to clearly communicate with clients and other staff. Ability to read and understand clinical reports and professional literature.
Submission of treatment plans, clinical and billing documentation according to the agency’s paperwork policies.
Provides overall management of assigned programs:
Works cooperatively with Developmental and Disability Services and other outside agencies to actively promote all services Accountable for assuring team meets fidelity standards for all evidence-based and best practices.
Coordinates assigning cases as appropriate.
Master’s degree in social work or counseling from an accredited college or university or within 3 months of completion and at least two years of supervised experience in the field.
Licensed Independent Social Worker, Licensed Social Worker, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Licensed Clinical Counselor required. Counselor Trainee considered.
