Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Transit Planner, we'll count on you to:

  • Demonstrate extensive public participation, agency coordination, planning and programming experience
  • Collect, assimilate and manage project-related data
  • Create technical reports, presentations, and other materials to document planning study findings (such as corridor studies)
  • Assist in preparation and participation of public information meetings and hearings
  • Plan and monitor aspects of large multidiscipline transportation planning and transit projects
  • Establish client relations and be involved with production meetings
  • Assist in directing the work of others in completion of required studies, documents and reports
  • Participate in planning work sessions in conjunction with appropriate technical professionals and other disciplines
  • Mentor and coordinate staff and workload through entire project development to complete documents on schedule
  • Lead and direct on a variety of transportation planning projects including complete streets, transit planning, long range planning, community planning, or concept development.
  • Participate in corridor studies associated with FTA CIG projects
  • Participate in grant writing and review
  • Create technical reports, presentations, and other materials for stakeholders and clients to document planning study and concept design findings

  • Transit oriented development
  • Corridor studies
  • Short and Long Range Transit and Transportation Plans
  • Transportation planning reports
  • Transit studies for multiple modes
  • Bicycle and pedestrian studies
  • New mobility
  • Data analysis, mapping, graphics
  • Community engagement
  • Assist in projects relating to emerging transportation technologies
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Planning or a related field
  • 5 years of relevant transportation and transit planning experience
  • Possess excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Understanding of transportation and transit planning principles
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Geographic Information Systems
  • Demonstrated presentation skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Planning or related field
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP)
  • Demonstrated ability in Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Familiarity with transit facilities planning
  • Experience coordinating with transit agencies, municipalities, state, and federal government organizations with relevance to transportation and transit in Ohio
