Overview

Medical Assistant - Clinical Nursing Support

Willamette Valley Cancer Institute is looking to add a Certified Medical Assistant to its team in Eugene, Oregon. As part of the Clinical Nursing department, this MA will be instrumental in helping the team manage in-coming calls and communications, assist with orders and prescription refills, and supporting the team with daily assigned tasks. Ideal for an MA looking to take their practice to the next level, this position will be part of a collaborative team of clinical professionals helping our patients navigate their various treatments. A strong foundation of Medical Assisting experience, especially with experience in prescription workflow SOPs, will find the most success in this role.

The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $20.00-$29.54. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

Employment Type: Full Time - 1.0FTE (40 hr/week)

Responsibilities

  • Screen, sort and route non-urgent incoming patient calls and messages including work queues, faxes, patient portal
  • Communicate with patients regarding normal lab result and confirm appointment dates
  • Assist with processing orders/referrals and faxing to outside agencies to all appropriate clinical staff
  • Assist with collecting and faxing orders or referrals to the appropriate outside agencies and/or referring practices
  • Assist in prescription refill workflow for established patients
  • Participate in the process improvement for the department including process improvements for daily workflows, call distribution, and prescription refill workflow enhancement
  • Be an integral part of the Clinical nursing team and enhancing the overall collaborative spirit of WVCI


Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Experience with refill protocols in clinic or hospital setting strongly preferred
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants
  • NCMA certification required
  • Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire
