Research Assistant B/H to assist and support scientific investigation to study cancer as directed in the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Responsibilities Include:
Independently conducts assigned experiments
Performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis
Sorts and processes tissue and blood samples; tests and evaluates current procedures
Performs routine procedures on lab animals
Records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results
Assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
Prepares research progress reports
Assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts
Conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature
Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
Sets up and operates laboratory equipment
Monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelors degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Experience with Flow Cytometry and/or animal experience highly desired.
Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.
Requires successful completion of a background check.
