This senior-level position in our National Tax Office is pivotal within our new regionalized organizational structure, driving the integration and growth of diverse tax specialty practices while reinforcing our mission to enhance efficiency and consistency across all regions. The National Tax Growth and Specialty Practice Leader will lead collaborative efforts to strategically align, expand existing practices, identify potential areas of development, and cultivate new revenue streams. This role will spearhead growth initiatives within the tax services segment, ensuring strategic planning aligns with evolving tax regulations and enhances the competitiveness and efficiency of the firm's tax practice.
Essential Functions and Primary Duties
Leadership and Strategy Development
  • Lead and foster collaboration among different regions and tax specialty practices.
  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for the tax specialty practice group, aligning it with the overall growth goals of the national and regional tax practices.
  • Identify standard procedures to ensure consistency in quality across practices.
  • Identify opportunities for expanding the client base using specialty tax products and cross-selling other firm services.

Resource Management and Operational Efficiency
  • Strategically manage resources and teams across different sectors.
  • Oversee the transition process from a decentralized to a centralized model.
  • Foster cross-training and skill development of personnel.
  • Ensure profitability through operational efficiency and cost management.

Collaboration and Innovation
  • Work closely with Tax Knowledge Leaders and Subject Matter Experts to develop new tax specialty opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the National Tax Technology Leader to leverage technological advancements in tax software and tools to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Explore innovative solutions for delivering tax services.

Strategic Planning and Sales Support
  • Collaborate with the National Tax Leader and Regional Tax Service Line Leaders to refine the CBIZ Tax Services Strategic Plan annually.
  • Design and implement revenue programs tailored to new tax laws/regulations and emerging tax trends.
  • Support sales teams in major tax proposal opportunities by providing insights into the sales process and best practices.
  • Guide sales teams through complex fee negotiations with key tax clients, ensuring favorable outcomes for both the client and the firm.

Communication and Training
  • Host quarterly discussions with national and regional leaders, facilitating the exchange of best practices and success stories related to growth initiatives.
  • Deliver regular training to Regional Tax Managing Directors and Directors on vital business development techniques.
  • Liaise with Regional Tax Service Line Leaders to innovate and develop new tax services, ensuring consistent delivery standards across all regions.
  • Support the National Tax Leader in pioneering initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and competitive edge of the tax practice, especially in technology integration and outsourcing.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree or higher preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other relevant professional qualification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • 10 - 20 years experience in a tax role within a public accounting, legal services, or consulting firm, ideally blending both sales and marketing roles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in one or more specialty tax areas such as Federal tax Credits and Incentives, Cost Segregation, Transfer Pricing, Accounting Methods, ettc
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated success in conceptualizing and executing revenue programs and go-to-market strategies.
  • Proficiency in sales processes for major clients, with emphasis on effective client meetings, strategy for winning competitive pursuits, and pricing/negotiations.
  • Stellar written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven experience in delivering sales training, focusing on sales processes to senior executives.
  • Track record of coaching high-level executives and teams, guiding them through the sales process to maximize outcomes.
    Proven track record of building and leading teams and driving strategic initiatives, preferably in a multi-office or national setting.
  • Performance history in client development and business growth.
  • Exceptional organizational acumen, paired with project management expertise.
Minimum QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 8 years of experience in related field
  • 6 years supervisory experience
  • Ability to manage deadlines
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments and prioritize accurately
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally (and externally as applicable)
  • Proven high level of business integrity, client service and leadership skills
  • Must be able to travel based on department needs
The annual salary target for this job in this market is $200,000- $350,000. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
