Job Overview

Under direction of the Mechanical Shop Supervisor, the Instrument Mechanic installs, repairs, maintains, and adjusts features of the Energy Monitoring Control Systems (EMCS). The Instrument Mechanic will work by indicating, recording, telemetering, and controlling instruments used to measure and control variables, such as pressure, flow, temperature, motion, force, and chemical composition.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Operates, monitors, maintains, and repairs, EMCS components that support the facility and infrastructure.
  • Repairs, troubleshoots and calibrates VFDs, refrigerant monitors and hydrogen sensors.
  • Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, models, and verbal and written instructions.
  • Disassembles malfunctioning instruments, examines and tests mechanism and circuitry for defects; troubleshoots equipment in or out of control system and replaces or repairs defective parts, reassembles instrument and tests assembly for conformance with specifications
  • Adjusts and repairs final control mechanisms, such as automatically controlled valves or positioners, and may calibrate instruments according to established standards
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
  • Plans, organizes work, and meets all deadlines.
  • Does a variety of tasks in any single day.
  • Responds to emergency site maintenance as required.
  • Inspects and diagnoses problems to determine corrective repairs.
  • Performs on-call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
  • Helps perform periodic stock inventories and prepare material requisitions for replacement items as required.
  • Operates Government or CCS owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
  • Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
  • Performs various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup
  • Adheres to the established CCS safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned including supporting CMMS and other departments.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
  • High school graduate or equivalent GED.
  • Five (5) years of HVAC and/or Electrical experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience working directly with Energy Monitoring Control Systems (EMCS).
  • Valid Journeyman HVAC license, Journeyman Electrical license or Certified Control Systems Technician Associate (CST).
  • Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
