PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Capital Sourcing Director will play a critical role in overseeing sourcing for Capital project portfolio ($500 Million spend/year over 100+ projects) within our Composite, Insulation, and Roofing divisions. This position will collaborate with peers to develop strategic initiatives and support the successful execution of projects. This role will lead a team of 10+ members and work closely with senior leadership to optimize our capital sourcing processes. In addition, this position is responsible for leveraging subject matter expertise, conducting benchmarking activities, reviewing industry best practice, analyzing corporate spend and collaborating in cross-functional teams to achieve cost savings, increase quality, and build and maintain a competitive Capital Strategic Sourcing portfolio. Responsible for ensuring all sourcing activities adhere to the highest ethical standards, consistent with OC's values and business code of conduct.

Reports to: Director Global Capital Delivery

Span of Control: Accountable for full Capital Sourcing organization - 6 direct reports.

Location:Remote - Preference to relocate to Owens Corning Science & Technology Center in Granville, Ohio

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Sourcing Strategy:

  • Develop and implement effective sourcing/contracting strategies for capital equipment and services across a range of different contract types (EPC, EPCM, Design/Build (Split form) to optimize cost, quality, and performance across capital projects in alignment with the company's objectives.
  • Makes data-driven decisions by referencing benchmarking, industry/market analysis, total life cycle cost and spend analysis.
  • Develops a deep understanding of the competitive landscape and markets of the key equipment/construction services. Keeps a forward-looking, long-term view of key trends and activities which will significantly impact capital project portfolio.
  • Create a strategy to continuously seek opportunities to optimize costs while maintaining high-quality standards and performance.
  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to develop and align sourcing strategies with project contract execution plans, ensuring seamless coordination across divisions.

Sourcing Tactical Execution:

  • Identify and evaluate potential vendors and contractors, conducting due diligence to ensure their capability to meet project requirements - performance, cost-effectiveness, quality, and reliability.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, monitoring their performance, ensuring compliance with contracts, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Lead negotiations with vendors to secure favorable terms and conditions, including pricing, scope, and delivery timelines. Oversee the drafting, review, and management of contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the capital sourcing budget effectively, ensuring cost-efficient allocation of resources.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with sourcing and contracting activities, ensuring that all sourcing activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. Understanding of contract management and contract risks/gaps as well as understanding of how to coordinate with legal.
  • Communicate consistently regarding results and the status of key initiatives, and on forward looking risks and opportunities with the vendory base or with sourced goods and services. Provide a sophisticated view of the markets, so risks and opportunities are well understood by business decision makers & project leaders, and specific actions are taken as a result.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly evaluate and report on the performance of sourcing initiatives, identifying areas to improve.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage and lead a team of 10+ members, providing mentorship, guidance, and support in achieving departmental and organizational goals.
  • Manage and mentor the sourcing team professionals, fostering their growth, development, and performance.
  • Creates an environment where talent is developed through effective performance management and talent evaluation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • An undergraduate degree in business, finance, engineering or related field of study
  • Fifteen(15) plus years of global sourcing or relevant business (engineering, operations, finance, general management) with progressive responsibilities
  • Leadership of a global functional organization
  • Experience at creating and implementing strategies at a comprehensive and global level within a corporate environment for capital sourcing.
  • Ability to travel 20 - 30%

PREFERREDEXPERIENCE

  • MBA preferred in business, finance, engineering or a related field of study.
  • Project management that drives impact, strong results and leads change.
  • Experience with EPC and Design/Build capital contracting strategies.
  • Exceptional relationship building, interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Track record of identifying and implementing cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives / projects across capital equipment & service
  • Ability to create strategic execution plans for various contract categories and clearly communicate ideas to senior leadership for input and support.
