Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team is seeking an experienced Sr. Financial Analyst to support its corporate the FP&A function. The ideal candidate will collaborate with internal and external partners to produce exceptional quality and timely financial reporting and analysis.You will maintain and update financial presentations for senior / executive leadership, the board of directors, and Exelixis' earnings call. You will also be responsible for supporting, as necessary, the development of various management reports, system files, and presentation decks, as well as ad-hoc financial analysis. Though you will not own any specific business partnering relationships, you will have an excellent birds-eye view of the total company's financials and be critical in ensuring exceptional financial reporting. This role requires close collaboration with Accounting, and the successful candidate must possess a thorough understanding of GAAP and a firm grasp of finance principles and FP&A processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a member of our FP&A Corporate FP&A team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting
  • Utilize several sources of information to prepare quarterly financial reviews (QFR) to inform senior leadership of quarter-over-quarter changes in the P&L and balance sheet
  • Assists finance leadership in the preparation for the quarterly earnings call
  • Manage presentation package for quarterly latest estimates and forecasts for executive leadership and board of directors
  • Utilize EPM and HR reports to update the monthly headcount reporting for senior leadership
  • Supports the development of corporate-related forecasts, including but not limited to collaboration revenues, COGS, stock compensation, interest, tax, and cash flow
  • Works with finance department heads to understand and document variances to forecast
  • Supports the development of the company's long-range plan
  • Maintains a robust repository of automated system reports
  • Supports ad-hoc financial analyses and special projects, as directed by finance leadership

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

Education:

  • BS/BA degree in a related discipline and three years of related experience; or,
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Prior FP&A experience is required
  • Experience with financial systems (Hyperion Planning/Essbase and SAP) is preferred
  • Experience in biotech / pharmaceuticals / healthcare preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Mastery of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong grasp of fundamental finance principles (three financial statements, accruals, debits/credits, GAAP, etc.)
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to confidently work with finance personnel with varying levels of seniority
  • Ability to efficiently execute lengthy/detailed processes and tasks, often with compressed deadlines
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis to explain business reasons behind variances
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Interest in growing a career in financial analysis and/or finance business partnering
  • Preferred: experience working with financial systems such as SAP

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across severalU.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this positionis $98,000 - $142,000 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate's geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.

In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, or if field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan.
